Helicopter

Our main photography platform is based around a radio-controlled electric model helicopter, under which a high resolution digital camera is suspended. Using this equipment, we are able to take photographs from any point in the sky, giving the customer total freedom of choice in how their subject is portrayed.

To assist in framing the photos, the helicopter is fitted with a wireless video transmission system. This sends a live video signal from the camera to the pilot's video-headset and to a screen on the pilot's backpack. Adjustments to the helicopter's position can then be requested by the customer. Only once both the pilot and the customer are happy with the composition will the pilot remotely-trigger the camera to take the photograph.

Mast

For large public events, or situations where flying the helicopter is considered unsafe, we use a 50ft telescopic mast. This highly portable system can be erected in under 10 minutes wherever there is approximately 3 square metres of space on the ground (including uneven ground). At the top of the mast is a radio-controlled gimble which allows the camera to point in any direction. A wireless video downlink (together with a colour LCD display on the ground) allows the client to see exactly what the camera is seeing in real-time. The mast can be extended to any height between 7ft and 50ft, and has several distinct advantages over the helicopter for low-altitude photography work:

- Can be used in high winds/blustery conditions
- Can be used in low-light levels (ie. dusk or night)
- Silent operation - No flight-time limitations
- Can be used where flying the helicopter would be considered unsafe
(over crowds or near trees / buildings)
The mast can also be operated whilst fitted to the back of our car. This removes the need to use the tripod, and hence, saves set-up time.

Safety is of paramount importance to our operations, and hence all our equipment is thoroughly checked and maintained prior to every engagement to guarantee safe, reliable and dependable performance.

All our operations are covered by £5M public liability insurance.
